Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, Evergreen Line, OOCL and Hamburg Sud announced general rate increases.
Maersk Line increased rates from the Caribbean, North America, the West Coast of South America, North Europe, the Mediterranean, Central America, Middle East Asia, Far East Asia and Oceania (excluding New Zealand) to the Fiji Islands Oct. 12. Rates increased by $200 per TEU, $400 per forty-foot container (FEU) and $600 per 40-foot high cube dry container.
The Danish carrier will also increase rates from Puerto Rico and the United States to the Fiji Islands effective Nov. 4. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU, $400 per FEU and $600 per 40-foot high cube dry container.
CMA CGM will increase rates from:
- All Asian ports (including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to all Northern European ports (including the United Kingdom and the full range from Portugal to Russia) on all cargo effective Nov. 1. Rates will increase by $950 per TEU.
- All Asian ports to Sri Lanka, Pakistan and India on all cargo effective Nov. 1. Rates will increase by $150 per TEU and $150 per FEU.
- The Far East and Japan to the West Mediterranean, the East Mediterranean, the Adriatic Sea, the Black Sea and North Africa on all cargo effective Nov. 1. Rates will increase by $950 per TEU, however rates to Syria will increase by 840 euros per TEU.
- All Asian ports (including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to Jeddah, Ain Sokhna, Aqaba, Djibouti, Port Sudan and Aden on all cargo effective Nov. 1. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU.
In addition, the French carrier implemented a port congestion surcharge for Port Sudan imports and exports of $100 per TEU, which took effect Oct. 15.
Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates for all non-refrigerated cargo and all non-refrigerated container types from the United States East Coast and United States Gulf Coast to Australia and New Zealand effective Nov. 15. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU and $200 per FEU.
Evergreen Line will increase rates from Asia to Europe and Asia to the Mediterranean effective Nov. 1. Rates will increase by $1,100 per TEU and $2,200 per FEU.
OOCL will increase rates from Asia to North Europe and Asia to the Mediterranean effective Nov. 1. Rates will increase by $1,100 per TEU.
Hamburg Sud will increase rates from the United States East Coast and United States Gulf Coast to Australia and New Zealand on all cargo moving in dry containers effective Nov. 15. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU dry equipment and $200 per FEU dry equipment.
