Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, “K” Line and NYK issued general rate increases.

   Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, “K” Line and NYK issued general rate increases.
   Maersk Line will increase rates from:
     • India to Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda effective Feb. 15. Rates will increase by $150 per TEU, FEU and FEU high cube dry containers.
     • China, South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan to Australia effective March 1. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU; and $600 per FEU and FEU high cube dry containers.
     • The Middle East and Indian Subcontinent to North Europe effective March 1. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU; and $500 per FEU, FEU high cube and 45-foot high cube dry containers.
     • The Mediterranean to the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent effective March 1. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU, FEU, FEU high cube and 45-foot high cube dry and reefer containers. From Syria, rates will increase by 92 euros per TEU, FEU, FEU high cube and 45-foot high cube dry and reefer containers.
     • The Middle East and Indian Subcontinent to the Mediterranean effective March 1. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU; and $500 per FEU, FEU high cube and 45-foot high cube containers. From Syria, rates will increase by 275 euros per TEU; and 458 euros per FEU, FEU high cube and 45-foot high cube containers.
   CMA CGM will increase rates from:
     • India to Mombasa, Kenya; and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania for all cargo effective Feb. 15. Rates will increase by $250 per TEU.
     • Pakistan to Mombasa, Kenya; and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania for all cargo effective Feb. 15. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU.
     • The Middle East to North Europe, Scandinavia, the Baltic, the Mediterranean Sea, the Black Sea, North Africa, Central America-Caribbean and South America for all cargo effective Feb. 28. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU and $600 per FEU.
     • The United Arab Emirates to Mombasa, Kenya; and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania for all cargo effective March 1. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU.
   Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates from:
     • East Asia to the U.S. and Canada for all dry, reefer, non-operative reefer, flat rack and open-top container cargo effective March 1. Rates will increase by $540 per TEU, $600 per FEU, $675 per FEU high cube and $760 per 45-foot containers.
     • The Indian Subcontinent (zone one and two) and the Middle East to North Europe and the Mediterranean for all shipments effective March 1. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU and $500 per FEU. The Indian Subcontinent zone 1 consists of the west coast ports of India and all inland container depot locations moving via these west coast ports (Nhava Sheva, Mundra and Delhi); and zone 2 consists of the East Coast of India, South coast of India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
     • East Asia to the East Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective March 1. Rates will increase by $850 per TEU.
     • East Asia (excluding Japan) to North Europe and the Mediterranean for all cargo and container types effective March 1. Rates will increase by $900 per TEU and $1,800 per FEU.
     • India to Mexico, the West Coast of Central America, the East Coast of Central America, the West Coast of South America, the Caribbean and Panama for all cargo and container types effective March 1. Rates will increase by $250 per TEU.
   In addition, “K” Line plans to increase rates from Asia to Europe and the Mediterranean by $1,000 per TEU, while reports indicate NYK will increase rates from Asia to Europe by $900 per TEU, Richard Ward, a container derivatives broker at Freight Investor Services said. These increases will take effect March 1.
