HACTL LAUNCHES HONG KONG / GUANGZHOU TRUCKING SERVICE
Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Ltd., the dominant air freight handler at Hong Kong International Airport, will launch an air cargo trucking service to move freight via sealed truck from Hong Kong to Guangzhou, China, next month.
Cathay Pacific Airways is the launch customer for SuperLink China Direct, which HACTL will operate in cooperation with Chinese forwarding giant Sinotrans.
Hong Kong Air Cargo Industry Services, a division of HACTL, will offer three SuperLink options: an air-road delivery service from Hong Kong to Guangzhou's Baiyun Airport; an air-road-air service via Baiyun to other mainland China airports; and a charter truck delivery service to points throughout the Pearl River Delta region.
HACTL said it will charge shipper's a single rate covering a range of services, including trucking, warehousing, documentation, customs clearance and domestic China delivery. The service will initially be available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
“The simplified customs clearance is a breakthrough for cargo that passes through Shenzhen by road,” said Chen Hai Ping, general manager of Sinotrans Guangzhou Co. “We believe the new initiative will enhance southern China's logistics services development and its important role as a domestic air cargo hub.”
“The initiative will greatly speed up the transfer of cargo through the Pearl River Delta and increase the value of (Hong Kong International Airport) as the region's most effective international trans-shipment hub,” said Mark Ashall, managing director of HACIS.
