Haifa Port sets new productivity records

The Israeli port reached a record output of 318.8 containers per ship hour and 74.7 containers per crane hour last week.

   Haifa Port reported a record output of 318.8 containers per ship hour last week through the use of six STS cranes at the Carmel Terminal while working on the vessel ZIM Los Angeles.
   The crew operating the G21 crane broke a port record for the number of containers moved by one single crane at 74.7 containers per crane hour. The average number of containers moved by one crane in 2015 is currently 30 containers per crane hour.
   Haifa Port’s board of directors approved the purchase of two additional STS cranes and three gantry cranes for the terminal, which have already been ordered.
   With a length of 700 meters and a depth of 15.5 meters, the Carmel Terminal currently utilizes six super post-Panamax gantry cranes and 12 rail-mounted gantry cranes according to the port’s website.
