HAMBURG-SUD AND ALIANCA ACQUIRE TRANSROLL OPERATIONS
Alianca, the Brazilian subsidiary of the German shipping group
Hamburg-Sud, has acquired the international operations of Transroll de Navegacao.
Transroll is the latest Brazilian-flag carrier to be taken over by a
larger shipping group.
The transfer of Transroll’s Europe/East Coast of South America liner
shipping business to the Hamburg-Sud/Alianca group will strenghten their presence in this
trade.
Transroll had pulled out of its second international trade — U.S. East
Coast/East Coast of South America — last year.
It isn’t known if the vessels of Transroll are also part of the sale.
Transroll, owned by the Brazilian family Klien, will retain its
relatively small cabotage shipping service between Brazil and other countries of the
Mercosur.
