HANJIN REPORTS 9% JUMP IN BOX VOLUMES
Hanjin Shipping said that it carried one million TEUs in
the first seven months of the year, an increase of 9 percent compared to the same period
of 1998.
A spokesman for the Korean carrier welcomed the increase in traffic,
particularly given that the first months of the calendar year are traditionally low-volume
months. "We generally don’t get busy until the latter part of the summer when holiday
inventories start to move," the spokesman said.
Hanjin aims to carry over two million TEUs this year, with an annual
revenue $3.15 billion.
