HANJIN SETS FUND FOR VENTURE ENTERPRISES

Hanjin Shipping, the Korean carrier, said it will spend 20 billion won (about $18 million) to set up a fund to invest in venture enterprises.

Hanjin said it would establish an independent corporation, to augment the existing division.

Through the fund, the company will invest in about 10 high-tech venture companies.

“The new company will be raised as a general information and communications enterprise covering development information systems, marketing of software and hardware and other network projects,” said Kim Chan-gil, newly named president of Hanjin Shipping.
