Hanjin takes delivery of fourth 4,300-TEU vessel
Hanjin Shipping on Tuesday received its newest 4,300-TEU vessel, the fourth in a series of eight such container ships ordered in 2005.
The Hanjin Durban was christened at Samsung Heavy Industries in Geoje Island.
The Korean carrier said the vessel consumes less fuel than any other ships of the same class and can easily change its speed according to operational situation.
The Hanjin Durban will be deployed in Hanjin Shipping's AWG (All Water Gulf) service and start its operation from early September in Busan. The port rotation for the AWG service is Xiamen, Yantian, Ningbo, Shanghai, Busan, Savannah, Norfolk and Charleston.
'With the deployment of this state-of-the-art ship, we will be able to upgrade the competitiveness of our fleet and improve our schedule regularity as well as customer service,' said Jong Sun Lee, Hanjin executive vice president.
Hanjin said the rest of the 4,300-TEU ships will be delivered by the second half of the year, with its order of 10,000-TEU vessels to be delivered over the next couple years.
