HATTON TO RETIRE FROM BRITISH AIRWAYS WORLD CARGO
Kevin Hatton, managing director of British Airways World Cargo for seven years, said he will retire from the airline at the end of May.
Hatton’s departure comes after Robert Ayling was forced to leave BA’s chief executive spot amid losses at Europe’s biggest airline.
Gareth Kirkwood, managing director of BA subsidiary Brymon Airways, will replace Hatton. Kirkwood has some 14 years of experience at BA, working in and then running the airline’s purchasing department.
Hatton has driven major change in BA’s cargo operations, leading the airline’s move into electronic commerce and improving customer service. Hatton also pushed through plans for BA’s new $400 million World Cargo Centre at London’s Heathrow Airport.
“It is the right time from a business point of view for someone new to come in and lead World Cargo into a new era,” Hatton said.
