The North Liberty, Iowa-based trucking and logistics provider recorded a net income of $7.9 million on revenues of $182.1 million for the quarter, according to the company’s most recent financial statements.
Heartland Express, Inc.’s net income tumbled 37 percent year-over-year during the third quarter of 2017 to $7.9 million.
In addition to the focus and challenges of the integration of trucking company Interstate Distributor Co. (IDC), Heartland was heavily impacted by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, according to Heartland CEO Michael Gerdin.
Heartland had acquired IDC from Saltchuk Resources, Inc. back in July. Gerdin said that by the end of the quarter, Heartland had completed a full system integration with IDC that included operations, maintenance and back office systems.
Despite net income falling during the quarter, Heartland increased revenues 22 percent from last year’s third quarter to $182.1 million.
The company closed out the quarter with total assets of $797.7 million and stockholders’ equity of $537.5 million.
