HELLMANN WORLDWIDE PROVIDES FULFILLMENT CENTER FOR PATCHGEAR.COM
Hellmann Worldwide Logistics said that it has signed a contract to operate a central fulfillment center in Chicago for Patchgear.com, a business-to-business safety merchandise e-commerce firm.
Under the agreement, Hellmann will consolidate the distribution of goods through its 35,000-square-foot facility in Chicago.
“We will be integrating systems and expediting orders placed via Patchgear’s various industry-specific and category dominated websites – their virtual warehouses, so to speak,” said Mike Collins, Hellmann’s director of market development in Chicago.
Previously, when an order was placed at any of Patchgear.com’s websites, merchandise was shipped from the site of manufacture to the end destination, arriving “just in time.” Now, some order components will be shipped to Hellmann Chicago for consolidation and shipment; other stock items will be warehoused at the facility. Hellman will consolidate orders from several manufacturers and consolidate the components into one shipment destined to anywhere in the world.
Hellman said that it will act “as a front-end B2B aggregator as well as a back-end fulfillment center.”
