Henningsen selects LeanLogistics TMS for cold-storage network

Third-party logistics provider Henningsen Cold Storage announced Aug. 8 that it has selected Michigan-based software firm LeanLogistics to provide transportation management systems for the Hillsboro, Oregon-based firm's more than 42 million square feet of temperature controlled warehouse and distribution facilities across six states.

The LeanLogistics's branded On-Demand TMS will be used to centralize transportation management of Henningsen's frozen and refrigerated facilities in Idaho, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Washington through the 3PL's load control center in Scranton, Penn.

According to Henningsen, centralizing inbound and outbound transportation management through the new system will allow the firm 'to eliminate inefficiencies in their transportation operations, significantly lower freight costs, and better meet customer delivery expectations.'

The On-Demand TMS is a web-based service that, according to LeanLogistics, provides 'complete daily planning, execution, and settlement, along with increased visibility to pickup and drop data.' The service also provides users such as Henningsen the ability to 'mine shipment history, analyze carrier performance, and generate insightful reports for better decision-making and continuous improvement.'

The 85-year-old Henningsen is one of the largest public refrigerated warehousing companies in the nation and recently expanded it's West Coast presence with the firm's selection by the Port of Benton, Washington, to manage a new freight Transload Center in Richland, Washington, and the completion of the firm's new 5 million cubic foot temperature-controlled distribution center in Portland, Oregon.
