Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) handled 361,000 metric tons of cargo in January, a 1.5 percent increase from January 2015, the airport said.
HKIA primarily attributed the growth to a 3 percent year-over-year increase in both exports and transshipments.
“During the month, cargo throughput to/from key trading regions in Australasia and Europe grew most significantly compared to other key regions,” HKIA said.
On a rolling 12-month basis, cargo throughput at HKIA totaled 4.4 million metric tons, a 0.1 percent year-over-year increase.
