Horizon Lines increases vessel bunker, intermodal surcharges
Horizon Lines is increasing its vessel bunker surcharge and intermodal surcharge for the U.S./Puerto Rico trades, effective April 8.
Horizon Lines bunker surcharge rises from $260 to $280. The intermodal surcharge will increase as follows:
* Zone 1 — $30: Florida, New Jersey, Texas.
* Zone 2 — $70: Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Rhode Island.
* Zone 3 — $100: Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia.
* Zone 4 — $110: Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, Wisconsin.
* Zone 5 — $120: All other states, Canadian provinces, Mexico.
“Prices for diesel and vessel fuel have significantly increased in the last several weeks. Increases are being driven by stronger than expected demand due to colder weather in the Northeast and lower supply from oil producing countries,” Horizon Lines said.
