Daseke, a specialty over-the-road transportation company, announced it has merged with Monroeville, Ala.-based Hornady Transportation.
Hornady Transportation has merged with Daseke, a flatbed, open-deck and specialty trucking company.
Based in Monroeville, Ala., and with a terminal in Birmingham, Hornady operates east of the Rocky Mountains and primarily supports the building products and steel industries. The company operates a fleet of 230 late-model tractors and 325 flatbed trailers.
Addison, Texas-based Daseke currently serves 49 states, Canada and Mexico.
In addition to Hornady, Daseke comprises Smokey Point Distributing of Arlington, Wash.; E.W. Wylie Corp. in West Fargo, N.D.; J. Grady Randolph of Gaffney, S.C.; Central Oregon Truck Co. in Redmond, Ore.; Lone Star Transportation (including Davenport Transport) in Fort Worth, Texas; the Boyd Cos. (including Boyd Bros. Transportation) of Clayton, Ala.; WTI Transport in Tuscaloosa, Ala.; Mid Seven Transportation of Des Moines, Iowa; and Bulldog Hiway Express in Charleston, S.C.
“We will grow with our existing management team while having access to all of the assets of Daseke,” Hornady’s Chris Hornady said in a statement. “Our combined group purchasing power will make us much more efficient and competitive in the marketplace. What’s more, we’re looking forward to sharing best practices and learning from the other operating companies.”
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
