HYDE COMMITTEE HEARINGS TO START APRIL 28 IN WASHINGTON
The Judiciary Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives will begin
hearings April 28 on the antitrust immunity aspects of the Ocean Shipping Reform Act.
The hearing is certain to focus on alleged malpractices by transpacific
ocean carriers during last year’s busy shipping season.
The committee is reviewing the record compiled by the Federal Maritime
Commission regarding the behavior of the carriers in the Asia/U.S. trade
between July and November 1998.
