IAG Cargo launches new London-New Orleans route

Scheduled to commence in March 2017, the new direct route between its hub at London Heathrow and New Orleans International Airport will be the first of its kind, the global airfreight carrier said in a statement.

IAG Cargo is launching a new direct route between its hub at London Heathrow (LHR) and New Orleans International Airport (MSY) in Louisiana, the company said in a statement.
Scheduled to commence March 26, 2017, the new route is the cargo industry’s first and only direct connection between LHR and MSY, according the global airfreight carrier.
The London-New Orleans route will be served by a BA 787-8 aircraft, which features belly hold capacity up to 15 tonnes and an air conditioning system that can maintain hold temperatures within one degree of accuracy.
With flights operating four times a week to and from New Orleans, the new route will help to better connect customers to the more than 350 destinations on IAG Cargo’s global network, the company said.
“This new route will add to our strong network offering in North America, giving local businesses a valuable connection to global markets,” said IAG Cargo Commercial Director David Shepherd. “IAG Cargo will help support business looking to trade in the region by offering a diverse premium product portfolio and opening new export routes.
“The launch of our new Critical product in particular will mean emergency shipments, which we anticipate will include machinery parts and oil and gas components from the local area, now benefit from an absolute guarantee to fly,” he added.
