IAG sees cargo volumes sink 4.8% in August

The airline group reported August cargo volumes dropped to 417 million cargo ton kilometers.

   International Airlines Group reported cargo volumes took a year-over-year drop of 4.8 percent in August to 417 million cargo ton kilometers (CTKs), which is similar to last month’s result of 422 million CTKs.
   Year-to-date, the airline group reported cargo volumes of 3.4 billion CTKs, down 3.9 percent from the same period last year.
   Individual IAG members Iberia and British Airways reported mixed results, as Iberia posted growth in cargo volumes while British Airways saw a volumes decline.
   Iberia reported August volumes of 84 million CTKs and year-to-date volumes of 668 million CTKs, year-over-year increases of 9.1 percent and 6.7 percent, respectively.
   British Airways experienced a decline in August volumes to 333 million CTKs, down 7.8 percent from the same period last year. In addition, the airline reported year-to-date volumes of 2.8 billion CTKs, a year-over-year drop of 6.1 percent.
