ILWU calls for stop-work meeting Sept. 1
The Pacific Maritime Association, which represents the employers of longshore labor on the West Coast, said Tuesday that International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 13 has scheduled a stop-work meeting for the 6 p.m.-to-3 a.m. shift Sept. 1.
No longshore labor will be available to work ships during that second shift, except for emergencies and essential military cargo, but the union has agreed to allow members to work night gates and do yard work to allow PierPass — the extended hours plan at the Southern California ports — to keep moving.
