Indian logistics firm ties up with parcel giant GLS

Indian logistics company Gati said Tuesday it has partnered with European express giant General Logistics Systems to be GLS’s strategic partner in India.

Holland-based GLS, one of Europe’s biggest parcel companies, will reciprocate by allowing the growing Gati to expand its reach into Europe. Gati Managing Director Mahendra Agarwal said his company is looking to invest $100 million in warehouses and other logistics assets in India and abroad by 2009, with a goal of reaching $250 million in revenue by 2010, Indian news outlets reported.

“The alliance with Gati is specially designed to provide both GLS and Gati customers the advantages of size, reach, flexibility along with infrastructure to provide unmatched service levels in India and Europe,” GLS Managing Director Saadi Al-Soudani said in a statement.
