INTERBOX INTRODUCES ELECTRONIC SLOT-EXCHANGE MARKETPLACE

INTERBOX INTRODUCES ELECTRONIC SLOT-EXCHANGE MARKETPLACE

San Francisco-based International Asset Systems has introduced a container slot-exchange system that it says is the first web-based exchange for vessel slot capacity.

The new module, called slotXchange, is part of the company’s InterBox operation, an electronic marketplace for the trading of container availability and vessel slot capacity.

The slotXchange system aims to enable ocean carriers, intermodal operators and container leasing companies to search, or post their need for, empty vessel slot capacity, and to post their containers that they wish to move empty.

The system allows the negotiation of all the terms for empty move transactions, International Asset Systems said.

The company said that the system can improve the vessel slots or container asset utilization. Users of the system can get “incremental revenue potential” for the vessel, thanks to “last minute filling of slots that would otherwise sail empty.”

International Asset Systems was founded in 1998.
