InterManager, an international trade association for in-house and third-party ship managers, has appointed Gerardo Borromeo to president.
Borromeo, who was elected unopposed at Thursday’s InterManager meeting in Copenhagen, succeeds Alastair Evitt, managing director of Meridian Marine Management, who has completed his two-year term as president.
Borromeo is vice chairman and chief executive officer of Philippine Transmarine Carriers (PTC), one of the largest crewing companies in the Philippines, deploying more than 33,000 seafarers annually.
The association also voted for four new vice presidents: Alex Albertini of Marfin Management to treasurer; Peter Curtis of Seaspan Ship Management as secretariat; Wim Van Noortvijk of ISSA to concentrate on membership; and Ian MacLean at Hill Dickinson for general counsel.
InterManager has a membership of 91 – both full and associate members – involved in the management of nearly 5,000 vessels and about 250,000 crew.
