Intermarine reopens New Orleans headquarters

Intermarine, a global provider of ocean transport as well as inland heavy haul transportation services for breakbulk, specialized project and heavy lift cargoes, said Monday it will reopen its New Orleans headquarters June 5.

Founded in New Orleans in 1990 and the city’s largest privately held ocean transportation company, Intermarine had been operating out of Houston after a nine-month displacement since Hurricane Katrina. Recently the company had its first vessel call at the Port of New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina, the “Ocean Atlas.”

With the devastation of Katrina, Intermarine was forced to relocate its personnel and computer systems, but within a few days of the storm, the company said it was back to full operations.
