Irish Continental Group’s Container and Terminal Division posts strong half-year results

The Irish Shipping Company’s Container and Terminal Division, which consists of intermodal shipping line Eucon and two container terminals, reported operating profits of 4.1 million euros on revenues of 57.2 million euros for the first half of 2015.

   Irish Continental Group’s Container and Terminal Division, which consists of intermodal shipping line Eucon, and two container terminals – Dublin Ferryport Terminals and Belfast Container Terminal – reported operating profits of 4.1 million euros (U.S. $4.6 million) for the first half of 2015, a year-over-year increase of 70.8 percent.
   The division posted half-year revenues of 57.2 million euros, an increase of 6.5 percent from the first half of 2014.
   Earnings before interest taxes depreciation and amortization for the Container and Terminal Division stood at 5.5 million euros, a year-over-year increase of 48.6 percent.
   The division shipped 142,200 TEUs in the first half of 2015, a slight drop from 142,700 TEUs in the same period last year.
   Units lifted at the port facilities stood at 103,700 lifts for the first half of 2015, a year-over-year increase of 11.9 percent.
   Eucon, which offers container transport to and from Ireland, the United Kingdom and the European mainland, announced yesterday that it completed the production of 200 new 45-foot containers to add to its fleet as part of its fleet renewal and upgrade program. In addition, the intermodal shipping line added 30 45-foot reefer units to its fleet, which brought the total number of reefers in its fleet to 150 units.
   The Irish Continental Group consists of the Container and Terminal Division and its Ferries Division.
