ITC TO CONDUCT STUDY OF U.S.-JORDAN FREE TRADE AGREEMENT
The U.S. International Trade Commission said it will launch an economic impact study of a possible U.S.-Jordan Free Trade Agreement.
The study was initiated at the request of the U.S. Trade Representative. The agency asked the ITC’s report to include:
* An overview of the Jordanian economy.
* Data on Jordan’s trade patterns with the United States and other trade partners.
* A description of tariff and investment relationships between the two countries.
* An analysis of any sector where there are significant economic impacts from a U.S.-Jordan Free Trade Agreement.
The ITC will submit its report, Economic Impact on the United States of a U.S.-Jordan Free Trade Agreement (classified as confidential), to the USTR by July 31.
While the ITC doesn’t plan to hold a pubic hearing for the investigation, it will accept written comments from the industry through July 7.
