Jacksonville warehouse operation expanding
Jacksonville-based Caribbean Shipping Services said Friday it is moving forward with plans for a new 100,000-square-foot cross-dock warehouse.
The temperature-controlled facility is being developed on part of a 72-acre site in the Alta Lakes Industrial Part. Caribbean said its trucking division will also be located at the new site.
'Jaxport (the Port of Jacksonville) is growing and changing, and Caribbean Shipping Services is delighted to be part of that growth and change,' said Paul Robbins, CEO of Caribbean Shipping Services. 'It is a very exciting time to be in Jacksonville.'
The company said that in addition to the new cross-dock warehouse facility and truck terminal, it has entered into a long-term lease for its cold storage facility with ICS Logistics. Caribbean Shipping Services will remain a customer at the 1505 Dennis Street facility. ICS will take over the management of Caribbean Cold Storage located in downtown Jacksonville and has expressed an interest in operating the new cross-dock warehouse for Caribbean Shipping Services.
The new facility, which will take up six acres of the industrial park, will be operational by March 2007, the company said.
