JAL PILOTS STRIKE CANCELS FREIGHTER FLIGHTS

Japan Airlines canceled five international freighter flights Tuesday after the airline’s pilots went on strike at Narita and Haneda airports in Tokyo.

The JAL pilots union, which threatened another walkout today, is demanding wage increases. Japan has some of the highest paid pilots in the world.

Four of the canceled all-cargo flights were headed to southeast Asia and one to North America, the airline said.
