Jaxport names Alfonso container cargo director
The Jacksonville Port Authority has promoted marketing veteran Raul Alfonso to director, container cargo.

Alfonso joined the port's marketing staff in 2002. Prior to that, he was director of marketing and trade development for the Americas for Hutchinson Port Holdings in Freeport, Bahamas. He also used to work for the Port of Miami, holding several management and senior level positions in the areas of vessel and terminal operations, intermodal operations and marketing.
'Raul has a deep understanding of the maritime industry and the needs of our customers,' said Roy Schleicher, Jaxport’s senior director of trade development and marketing. 'He is particularly focused on helping container carriers and distribution centers tap into the exciting opportunities now present in Northeast Florida.'
Alfonso is originally from Miami. He earned an associate's degree from Miami Dade Community College and a bachelor's degree in business and marketing from Florida International University.
