Third-party provider of unit-load devices Jettainer said it will manage air cargo pallets and containers for WestJet’s new international flights.
WestJet, a Canadian airline, has recently started wide-body plane service to Europe.
“WestJet will utilize a mixture of nearly 400 pallets and containers,” Jettainer said in a statement. “They will come into operation on flights of the company’s first out of four Boeing 767-300 ER aircraft which has been delivered to WestJet recently.”
Jettainer has increased its market presence in North America this past year. In 2014, the company set up Jettainer Americas and has several offices in air cargo markets across the continent. Jettainer provides ULD management to American Airlines and KF Aerospace.
“This new [WestJet] contract also confirms our aim at approaching low-cost carriers and leisure airlines, which are expanding their portfolio, for example in terms of adding wide-body aircraft to their fleets in order to serve long-haul destinations,” said Carsten Hernig, Jettainer’s managing director.
