Jurong Port orders five 22-row outreach cranes

Jurong Port in Singapore has ordered five quay cranes along with options for two more units from Korean crane manufacturer, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction.

The new quay cranes will each have a 22-row outreach of 62 meters (203.4 feet). Three of the cranes will arrive in October 2006 and two in December 2006.

Currently, Jurong Port has a total of 13 quay cranes, six of which are 18-row across units, three are 16-row across and four are 13-row across. The port said that four of the five new cranes will replace the four existing cranes of 13-row outreach.

The port is undergoing a number of improvements to boost productivity include consolidation, development and extension of berths, yards, warehouses and other supporting infrastructures. The port expects to handle nearly 1 million TEUs by the end of the year.
