K + N renews maritime communications firm contract
European maritime telecommunications company Vizada VSAT has contracted with logistics giant Kuehne + Nagel to provide air and sea freight and warehousing for its satellite communications equipment in the United States, Europe and Asia.
The new contract is the first to have been secured by Kuehne + Nagel in Norway following its acquisition of J. Martens AS earlier this year. J. Martens AS was the logistics service provider to Marlink, a subsidiary company of Vizada that produces maritime satellite systems.
The new agreement sees an extension of logistics services to the parent company for a minimum of two years. K + N will transport Vizada's products by air and sea, and will be additionally responsible for the implementation and management of a number of consolidation and storage warehouses in the Netherlands, California and Dubai, with potential for further sites as operationally required.
Onward distribution from these sites to Vizada's clients, which are often ships located at port awaiting new satellite communications tools, will be provided by road transport.
