K + N reorganizes European operations

Swiss-based third-party logistics provider Kuehne + Nagel has divided its operations into two separate units and shuffled the company’s management structure in Europe.

Kuehne + Nagel has divided its operations into two separate units and shuffled the company’s management structure in Europe, the Swiss-based third-party logistics provider said in a statement.
The two new organizational units will cover Western Europe and Central/Eastern Europe, respectively, effective Oct. 1, 2016. The Western Europe division will be headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands, while the Central/Eastern Europe unit will locate its head office in Hamburg, Germany.
K + N has selected Dr. Hansjoerg Rodi, former chief executive officer of DB Schenker Logistics’ Central European segment, to lead the Central/Eastern Europe division, and promoted Peder Winther to manage the Western Europe unit. Erwin Wittemaier will succeed Winther in his current role as head of K + N’s Middle East/Africa region.
“The establishment of two equally strong European regions will enable us to manage our business in Europe and be even more focused,” Dr. Detlef Trefzger, CEO of Kuehne + Nagel International AG, said of the reorganization. “We are very pleased to promote two experienced Kuehne + Nagel senior managers and – at the same time – to have an external top executive joining our company.”
