Kansas City Southern Railway has named Watco Transloading as operator of its new Zacha transload facility in Dallas, which offers 9,523 feet of track space and 80 acres of outside storage, the company said in a statement.
Kansas City Southern Railway Co. (KCS) has opened a new transload facility in Dallas at the site of a former intermodal terminal, according to a statement from the company.
The Class I railroad named Watco Transloading as operator of its new Zacha transload facility, which offers 9,523 feet of track space and 80 acres of outside storage, effective Oct. 17, 2016. The multi-commodity facility was built on the site of the former Zacha intermodal terminal, which has offered limited trainload operations since the opening of KCS’s new intermodal facility in Wylie, Texas.
“KCS is focused on growth through key business relationships and a strategically-positioned network,” KCS EVP and Chief Marketing Officer Brian Hancock said of the new transload facility. “Providing customers with supply chain solutions through our TLC (TransLoad Center) network and partnerships with companies like Watco are important components of that growth.”
The Zacha terminal is Watco’s 55th facility within the company’s terminal and port services network, according to Rob Thrall, vice president of business development at Watco.
