The Hong Kong-based third-party logistics provider has renamed Albini & Pitigliani Sverige AB, known as ALPI Sverige, Kerry Logistics (Sweden) following the integration of the company’s businesses.
Kerry Logistics Network Ltd. has rebranded Albini & Pitigliani Sverige AB, commonly known as ALPI Sverige, as Kerry Logistics (Sweden) AS, the company said in a statement.
The Hong Kong-based third-party logistics provider acquired a 50 percent stake in ALPI Sverige from parent company Albini & Pitigliani back in 2013, and has since been working to integrate its facilities into the Kerry Logistics network.
Founded in 1999, ALPI focuses primarily on the air, ocean and niche cargo markets in Europe and the Mediterranean, as well as ocean freight consolidation from China, India and Bangladesh, with the majority of its volumes comprised of textile imports.
The company in 2005 relocated to its current headquarters in Boras, Sweden, outside of Goteborg, where they commissioned a 3,200-square-meter warehouse. After joining Kerry Logistics in 2013, the facility was expanded to 14,000 square meters and ALPI added another 5,000 square feet of rented warehouse space. ALPI currently has 56 employees.
Kerry said the aim of the newly rebranded Kerry Logistics (Sweden) subsidiary is to broaden its focus on Swedish exports and extend to new markets like the United States. This effort will be facilitated in part by Kerry Logistics’ June acquisition of San Francisco, Calif.-based non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) Apex Maritime, a top-three NVOCC in the transpacific trade.
“Sweden is an important market for us and also for the network, in particular in the Far East and the Indian Sub-Continent,” said Thomas Blank, managing director Europe at Kerry Logistics. “We see great potential for further expansion of our capabilities, our geographic footprint and the service portfolio in Sweden.”
“We have established a very solid and loyal client base in Boras. Expanding our business in Sweden in the near future is a concrete plan for us,” added Kerry Logistics (Sweden) Managing Director Torbjörn Hagberg.
