Kerry opens auto center in Hefei

Hong Kong-based Kerry Logistics said Tuesday it has opened a 20,000-square-meter logistics center in Hefei, China to focus on the growing automotive industry sector in Anhui Province in eastern China.

The facility will be focused on automotive specific services, like vendor managed inventory, subassembly and kitting, just-in-time delivery, milk run transportation, functional testing, as well as completely knocked down (CKD) or semi-knocked down (SKD) operations.

'Demand has been growing from our automotive customers in Hefei for us to deliver specialist automotive logistics services,' said Edwardo Erni, managing director of mainland China.

The logistics center is roughly two miles from Hefei Luogang International Airport and adjacent to express highways linking to Hening, Hewu, Hehuang and Hexu. There is also a railway connection linking to Hejiu, Heband, Ningxi, Huhanrong and Jingfu.

The facility is composed of five warehouses, with four already operational and fifth to open by the end of the year.
