The fourth phase of expansion has commenced at the Kerry Siam Seaport in Laem Chabang, Thailand.
The Kerry Siam Seaport (KSSP), a multi-purpose deep sea port in Laem Chabang, Thailand, is currently undergoing its fourth phase of expansion, Kerry Logistics said.
The third-party logistics provider is developing the facility into a primary cargo gateway due to increasing trade in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and to handle rising business demand in countries in the Greater Mekong Region (GMR), including Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos.
Phase four involves increasing the number of operational berths from 10 to 20, extending the total length from 1.5 kilometers to 2.8 kilometers and constructing another bridge to the port. This phase is expected to be completed by 2019.
“Cargo and container traffic within ASEAN and in particular the GMR has recorded strong growth in recent years,” Kerry Logistics Managing Director of Greater Mekong Region Kledchai Benjaathonsirikul said in a statement. “Connected to the GMR via sea, rail and road links, KSSP will be the only terminal with full, one-stop port logistics infrastructure and capability to support both cargo owners and shipping lines as they penetrate into other markets in ASEAN and beyond.”
