Kuehne + Nagel adds just-in-time service for DaimlerChrysler in Hamburg
Kuehne + Nagel has started operations at a new supplier logistics center for Daimler-Chrysler in Hamburg, Germany.
The 10,000-square-meter warehouse was fully operational in January and is located six kilometers from the car maker’s plant, enabling it to comply with DaimlerChrysler’s required two-hour order response time.
Under terms of the contract, the Swiss forwarding and logistics services provider is responsible for goods receiving and commercial checks, storage and removal on a first-in-first-out basis, picking and packing small load carriers and just-in-time order preparation and delivery to the plant.
Additionally, Kuehne + Nagel will monitor suppliers, provide repackaging and returns services, and prepare inspection lots.
