Kuehne + Nagel opens Narita, Japan logistics center
Swiss forwarding and logistics firm Kuehne + Nagel today officially inaugurated its new logistics center in Narita, Japan.
Located 3.5 kilometers from Narita Airport, the facility features 10,000 square meters of warehousing and handling space. In addition to contract logistics, a section of the warehouse is dedicated to air freight.
Japan Airlines is the key customer at the site, and Kuehne + Nagel operates the facility as a global logistics hub for all the national carrier’s in-flight catering requirements, serving the airline’s catering companies and service stations worldwide as well as checking and sorting returned goods.
'This new logistics center underlines our strategy of expanding contract logistics activities globally, with the aim of offering integrated logistics services in all countries,' said Dirk Reich, Kuehne + Nagel's executive vice president contract logistics. 'This year alone will see us opening two further locations in Japan, thereby laying the foundation to become one of the country's leading contract logistics providers in the medium term.'
