KUEHNE & NAGEL TO ADD ALTENWERDER WAREHOUSE
Kuehne & Nagel said Monday it has broken ground on what will be a new 31,000-square-meter logistics center in Altenwerder.
The center is expected to specialize in the expansion of Kuehne & Nagel's import logistics. The company already has more than 16,000 square meters of warehousing space in Hamburg, which has been operating at full capacity, the company said.
'Altenwerder is an ideal logistics location,' said Ewald Kaiser, managing director of Kuehne & Nagel Germany. 'In particular, the import logistics activities can now be organized more efficiently, because container movement can be reduced to a minimum.'
The center is expected to be completed in the spring of 2004.
