London Stansted Airport increases cargo volumes

The airport attributed the growth in cargo volumes in the last 12 months to additional flights added by some carriers to diminish supply chain problems from the backlog at the Channel Tunnel.

   The London Stansted Airport reported 233,239 tons of cargo were shipped through the airport within the last 12 months, an increase of 9.4 percent from the previous 12 months.
   In July alone, 20,732 tons of cargo were transported through the airport, a year-over-year increase of 4.4 percent.
   The London Stansted Airport attributed the strong growth in cargo volumes to additional flights added by some carriers to diminish supply chain problems from the backlog at the Channel Tunnel.
   The airport’s World Cargo Centre offers 55,000 square meters of warehouse and office space. In addition, the London Stansted Airport features a European Union approved Border Inspection Post and dedicated access to the M11 motorway. Thanks to significant land availability, the airport also has the ability to expand further in the future.
