MacGregor, part of cargo handling solutions provider Cargotec, has been contracted by South Korean ship builder Hyundai Heavy Industries to deliver comprehensive roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) access equipment packages for two post-Panamax RoRo vessels.
“Each MacGregor RoRo access equipment package will comprise a stern ramp, internal ramps, bulkhead doors and four levels of hoistable electrically-operated car decks,” MacGregor said. “The gross weight of the equipment is about 2,200 tons per ship.”
The vessels are currently under construction for the Luxembourg-based operator CLdN at the Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, with options for another three, MacGregor said.
At 235 meters long and 35 meters wide, the vessels will be the world’s largest commercial RoRo carriers.
The vessels are expected to enter service in 2017 and will serve on CLdN’s North Europe service.
