Maersk adds South America to Africa service

   Maersk announced it will add a new direct service from the East Coast of South America to West Africa on Jan. 28.
   Maersk’s WAFEX (West Africa Express) will use a fortnightly service operated by Delmas (SAMWAF) that operates with three 1,700-TEU ships.
   The port rotation includes Buenos Aires (Argentina), Rio Grande (Brazil), Itajai (Brazil), Santos (Brazil), Abidjan (Ivory Coast), Pointe Noire (Congo), Luanda (Angola). Maersk will not have a backhaul from West Africa to South America.
