Maersk adjusts intra-Med feeders
Maersk Line this week made a series of announcements regarding new services or service adjustments.
The Danish line is starting a new loop connecting southern Europe and northern Africa. Its new F01 butterfly service will have a rotation of Algeciras, Vigo, Bilbao, Algeciras, Las Palmas, Tenerife, Agadir (Morocco) and Algeciras, and will be operated with three 900-TEU ships. The new service starts immediately, while two other feeders — F05 and F32 — will be suspended.
Maersk is also adding a call at the Libyan port of Al Khoms to its Egypt/Libya shuttle, beginning Oct. 28. The rotation for the F28 service will be Port Said, Al Khoms, Misuratah, Benghazi and Port Said. The weekly service is operated with two 750-TEU vessels.
Finally, Maersk is starting a Moroccan shuttle between Port Tangier and Casablanca. The twice-weekly shuttle will employ a 585-TEU ship, operated by third-party feeder line D’amighreb. The service will start Oct. 9, and Maersk said it will discontinue its Y63 and F12 Algeciras/Casablanca feeder services.
