Maersk announces rate hikes

    Maersk Line said it will implement rate hikes on several trades:

  • A general rate increase (GRI) for dry cargo moving from the Middle East, India and Pakistan to the United States and Canada will take effect on July 3. The increase will be $300 for 20-foot containers, $400 for 40-foot standard containers, $450 for 40-foot, high-cube containers, and $505 for 45-foot containers.
  • A GRI for dry and reefer shipments from the Far East to the United States will take effect July 1. For cargo moving to the West Coast (Los Angeles, Long Beach, Oakland, Seattle, Dutch Harbor) the increase will be $320 for 20-foot containers, $400 for 40-foot standard containers, $450 for 40-foot, high-cube and reefer containers, and $510 for 45-foot containers.
  • To the East Coast (Newark, Norfolk, Savannah, Charleston, Miami) and IPI points, the increase will be $480 for 20-foot containers, $600 for 40-foot standard containers, $675 for 40-foot, high-cube and reefer containers, and $760 for 45-foot containers.
  • Maersk has also announced a GRI for dry shipments between the United States and the Mediterranean effective July 1. Between the United States Gulf Coast and Mediterranean, the increase is $250 per 20-foot container and $300 per 40-foot container. Between the Mediterranean (excluding Israel, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia) to the East Coast, West Coast and Canada, the increase is also $250 per 20-foot container and $300 per 40-foot container.
