The global shipping transportation services provider, through a separate wholly-owned subsidiary, entered into a time charter contract with Maersk Line A/S, which will charter the m/v Great for $14,750 a day.
Diana Containerships Inc., through a separate wholly-owned subsidiary, entered into a time charter contract with the Danish ocean carrier, Maersk Line A/S, which will charter the m/v Great, a 5,576-TEU Post-Panamax containership.
The gross charter rate for the vessel is $14,750 a day, minus a 5 percent commission for third parties, Diana Containerships said in a statement. The contract, expected to commence Aug. 15, is for a minimum of six months and a maximum of nine months.
In addition, Maersk has the option to charter the m/v Great for an additional nine months, plus or minus 30 days, beginning nine months after taking delivery of the vessel, for a gross rate of $21,000, minus a 5 percent commission for third parties. The carrier must decide on the option no later than five months after taking delivery of the vessel, according to Diana Containerships.
Diana Containerships Inc.’s fleet is currently comprised of 12 containerships, four Post-Panamax vessels and eight Panamax vessels, which are employed primarily on time charters.
