The Danish ocean carrier added 12,900 PrimeLINE container refrigeration units to its fleet, the largest order ever placed for the units, according to Carrier Transicold.
Ocean carrier Maersk Line added 12,900 Carrier Transicold PrimeLINE container refrigeration units to its fleet, which represents the largest order ever placed for the units, Carrier Transicold said in a statement.
The energy efficient units are being installed on 40-foot high cube containers to replace and expand Maersk’s refrigerated container fleet.
The Danish carrier first introduced the PrimeLINE unit to its fleet in 2007. “Including prior purchases, Maersk Line’s PrimeLINE units, in normal operating modes, are expected to save enough energy over their lifetimes to eliminate more than 1.6 million tons of carbon dioxide-equivalent emissions relative to industry average,” Carrier said. “No other container refrigeration unit provides dehumidification capability lower than the PrimeLINE unit, and none can achieve 50 percent relative humidity as efficiently.”
Carrier Transicold, which provides refrigerated solutions for land and sea transport, is part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp.
