Malcom McLean Jr., son of container pioneer, dies

   Malcom Purcell McLean Jr., son of containerization pioneer Malcom McLean Sr., died at his home in Orange Beach, Ala., on Sunday, Dec. 29, after a prolonged illness.
   He is survived by five children: Kemberly Sehoy McLean, Malcom P. McLean III, Jennifer Lacy McLean Sharpe, Christopher George McLean and Andrew Sikes McLean; four grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy McLean Parker of Highlands, N.C., and Patricia McLean Mendenhall of New York; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins across the country.
   In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his mother, Margaret Sikes McLean.
   A memorial service is planned for 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, at St. James Episcopal Church in Fairhope, Ala. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or another charity of the donor’s choice.
