Maritime & Coastguard Agency names Bligh CEO
The United Kingdom's Maritime & Coastguard Agency -- the British equivalent of the U.S. Maritime Administration -- has appointed Capt. Stephen Bligh as chief executive, effective Sept. 1.
Bligh succeeds Maurice Storey, who will retire at the end of August.
Bligh was fleet manager for P&O Nedlloyd Container Line Ltd., based in Rotterdam.
The Maritime & Coastguard Agency, based in Southampton, has an annual budget of about $160 million, 1,150 staff members, and 3,250 volunteer auxiliary Coastguards. It is an executive agency of the U.K. government's Department for Transport.
