Maritime technology, innovation programs planned

The Maritime Global Technologies Innovation Center is talking blockchain and showcasing startups at two June events.

   The Maritime Global Technologies Innovation Center (MGTIC) at SUNY Maritime is participating in two events in New York City in June.  
   The first will be an afternoon presentation June 19 during the Marine Money Conference, which will take place June 18 to 20 at the Hotel Pierre, 2 E. 61st St. MGTIC’s presentation, “Connecting and Catalyzing Maritime Tech Development in New York and the World,” is scheduled from 2 to 4:15 p.m. and will include brief presentations on private equity financing opportunities in maritime technology, blockchain, compliance and insurance. There also will be a panel discussion focusing on new technology for the maritime sector.  
   The second event will be a Maritime Startup Showcase from 6 to 9 p.m. June 20 on the fourth floor of Grand Central Tech, 335 Madison Ave. The event is free, but online registration is required.
   The showcase will include maritime startup presentations, panel discussions and an audience open mic as well as post-event networking.
