Marken opens new operational hub in Chicago

Marken, a global provider of supply chain services to the life sciences industry, said the new operational hub in Chicago is its sixth hub in the United States.

Marken, a global provider of supply chain services to the life sciences industry, is opening a new operational hub in Chicago, the company said in a statement.
The new hub is Marken’s sixth location in the United States and joins existing facilities in New York, Boston and Philadelphia. The facility will provide more operational flexibility within Marken’s network and facilitate growing demand for direct-to-patient transportation services, the company said.
Pharmaceutical companies, clinical research organizations and contract manufacturers use Marken, which was acquired earlier this month by Atlanta-based parcel giant UPS Inc., to collect and transport clinical trial material and investigation medicinal products to 49,000 clinical trial sites, as well as the shipment of biological samples from these sites to central laboratories.
The company has more than 650 employees with an asset-light operating structure and 45 locations worldwide, including the new Chicago hub.
“We are very pleased to be able to expand our footprint and open a new Marken facility in Chicago. By adding Chicago to our New York, Boston and Philadelphia operational centers, we are building a stronger and more nimble network in the United States,” Julia Tarasenko, regional director for the company’s U.S. North East & Canada Operations unit, said of the new location. “We will now be closer to our clients in the Chicago area and offer them the same high-touch, personalized services they have come to expect from us.”
